ARCHER: CALAMITY
JANE
About.
Originally an infamous gunman in the American Wild West, Calamity Jane was summoned as an Archer two millennia ago to serve as a scout. Together with her comrades, she defeated the goddess, Ashtart Origin. However, this came at a price: a weakening of her greatest power, as well as the curse of immortality.Always the life of the party, Jane is the unbreakable optimist of her crew, often marching to the beat of her own drum. She never holds a grudge, and always tries to encourage her teammates. At the same time, though, her carefree attitude often leads to a gung-ho approach and a penchant for collateral damage: after all, the easiest way to solve a puzzle is usually to break it.
portrayal and headcanons.
This portrayal of Jane draws more from her Wild West origins, rather than the space cheerleader angle that's seen more in canon. As such, expect more Old Western references, a country accent, and far more bloodshed and grittiness than canon. "Phew phew!", indeed.Jane is in her mid-20s physically, and identifies as a pansexual woman. Her gun is actually a revolver with two interchangeable barrels: one for plasma rounds which can be set to either stun or kill, the other with good old-fashioned lead in it. She can switch between barrels at the press of a button, as well as reload at the press of another button. She remembers the people in her past life fondly (especially Wild Bill and her children), but doesn't see herself as beholden to their memory, not after such a long time. That being said, she still regrets not being able to kill McCall herself. As an enjoyer of all things alcoholic, Jane's fairly thankful that Servants are made of stern stuff. At the same time, she fears that if she drinks too much, she'll regress back to her old self from the 1800s, who was much less... happy, to say the least.Jane is absurdly thankful that she's literate in this lifetime, and will often settle down with a book if there's nothing at all to do.
Combat Skills.
Jane is an Archer, which means she has a powerful Noble Phantasm, and can act independently from her Master, allowing her to serve as a strong scout. She also has some magic resistance and absurdly strong long-range projectiles, per her Class. In melee, her cheerleader-like gymnastics allow her a flashy mode of martial arts, but she shines the best at range. In terms of her specific Skills, Jane has Rank A [Riding], which translates to her prodigious ability to pilot and remodel spaceships, no matter what actual model it is. As such, she's actually quite the high-caliber engineer, and can easily work out the specifics of futuristic and alien technology, as well as more modern technology. She also has Rank A [Presence Concealment], which means that if needed, she can erase her presence from almost all forms of detection. You'd need to be right in front of her to actually notice her in any meaningful way. Combine this with her Rank B [Subversive Activities], which allows her to spot any enemy's blind spot and aim at their weak points, and Jane is a stealth sniper to be reckoned with.Lastly, Jane has the skill [O' Polar Star, Show the Way], which is an offshoot of her second Noble Phantasm that was locked away. The longer a battle goes, the more "critical hits" Jane is guaranteed to land; this manifests as golden starlight lighting up the battlefield more and more. As such, Jane flourishes in battles of attrition, since they allow her to scale indefinitely and become far stronger over time.
Noble Phantasms and EX Skills.
Jane has two Noble Phantasms and one EX Skill that make her a frustrating, lethal, and nigh-untouchable opponent to face. Facing her on a one-on-one battlefield will require careful study of these abilities.Jane's EX Skill is [Galactic Messenger]. If she uses it, any opponent she's fighting will actively lose morale. Their desire to actually fight will wane over time: whether out of dismissiveness, or despair, or panic, it doesn't matter. They'll stop wanting to fight. In contrast, Jane's allies will receive a vague amount of fighting spirit, enough to grasp at hope even in the darkest of times. Jane, herself, will receive the greatest amount of this encouragement, to the point where she can take downright mortal amounts and damage and still have the wherewithal to keep fighting.Jane's first Noble Phantasm is [Space Dead Man's Hand: Black Hand that Invites Death], or just [Space Dead Man's Hand]. SDMH fires bullets labelled "Bad Luck", and they will always land in the back of her target's head. It doesn't matter where she's shooting from or what direction the bullet is initially going, the bullet will always home in on the enemy and fatally split their cranium from behind, showing the target a vision of a dead man's hand (two pairs of Spades and Clubs of A and 8) before they die instantly. Given SDMH is a Noble Phantasm and not just any normal piece of ammunition, it should be stated: the bullets are magical in nature and can hurt people and objects that would normally deflect bullets.Jane's second Noble Phantasm is [Sentinel Stellaris: O' Polar Star, Illuminate My Enemies], or just [Sentinel Stellaris]. [Sentinel Stellaris] allows Jane to find a weak point and make it "see through", and fix its state as "truth". In essence: her target now has a mortal weak point that can be hit at all times, and there is nothing the target can do to actually conceal or defend that weak point. Even killing Jane will not remove it. This particular Noble Phantasm is an A+ Rank Anti-Goddess ability, and as such, it has the distinct feature of being able to make immortals, deities, and otherwise unkillable beings entirely mortal so long as it is active. As this ability is locked behind her curse of immortality, actually using it once more will require a substantial amount of work and complex magecraft in order to unlock it.
